Heavy City, Eldren, The Weird Kids, Yes Brainer

Monday March 26 @ 9:00 pm - 11:30 pm

$7

Heavy City is a 9-piece soul and rocksteady band based in Portland, Oregon. Heavy City tells stories about love, loss, justice, and personal struggle through the filter of stripped-down ‘60s reggae, rocksteady, and Motown and Jamaican soul music. The band’s pedigree includes current/former members of The Ernest Ranglin Band, The Sentiments, The Bandulus, Checkmate, Franceska, Cornerstone, and Engine 54.

Eldren won Best Psych Rock Band in Denver two years in a row for the 2016 and 2015 Westword Music Awards, and they have been nominated four times for Best Band in Denver by iHeartRADIO (KTCL 93.3 in Denver) for the Hometown for the Holidays and Big Gig contests. Their new album, Welcome to Deathville (2015), made the Colorado Public Radio OpenAir Best Albums of 2015 Listener Poll, and it was given a perfect album review score (“5 out of 5 Cocks”) in Rooster Magazine.

The Weird Kids are an alternative rock band based in Portland Oregon. Influences range from Ray Charles to Slipknot and everything in between.

Yes Brainer is a Portland ska punk band consisting of member of The Bandulus and Carole’s Gold Gym. The band strives to open the conversation with social consciousness and radical anti-authoritarian feminist politics. Emma is a powerhouse and relative new comer to the genre while Anthony and Axe have been playing punk and ska in and around Portland since the early 2000’s. As a new group they hope to achieve something close to a combination of The Selecter and Common Rider delivered with goof punk brio.
