Piefight, Dr. Something, Megathruster, Lucia Fasano

Saturday June 24, 2017 @ 9:00 pm - 11:30 pm

Piefight is both the punky life of the party and the wallflower playing moody slow jams. Musically drawn from a deep, wild well of rock influences — PJ Harvey, the Doors, Fleetwood Mac, Liz Phair — their songs are vulnerable and empowering.

Dr. Something: Alison Dennis, a.k.a. Dr. Something, is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has been recording and performing music in Portland for over a decade. She creates catchy chamber pop featuring piano, synth, guitar, clarinet, saxophone, and bass. Her music is an attempt to seamlessly blend earnestness and facetiousness, art and novelty. She also currently plays keyboards and saxophone in the psych-pop band All I Feel Is Yes and has previously performed with the bands Coney Island Cartel, Y La Bamba, Audie Darling, and Leonard Mynx. RIYL: Nellie McKay, John Grant, Joni Mitchell, Ben Folds

Megathruster: Chris Waffle and Joel Macheila were playing Dungeons and Dragons in Mrs. Waffle’s basement when Chris’ bard tripped and landed on the tail of a sleeping dragon. Joel’s quick-thinking mage summoned a storm. Time stopped as the D20 rolled in slow motion across the table – the party held their breath – and as the die settled on 20, a bolt of lighting struck just outside the windows and a purple fog appeared. The next thing they remember is waking up with instruments in their hands and rock on their minds. Megathruster was born, forged in the mythical lands of Oregon’s I5 corridor and ready to take you to another dimension with their acoustic nerd folk rock!

Lucia Fasano is a Portland, Oregon based singer-songwriter and comedian from Los Angeles. She’s recently appeared on IFC’s Portlandia as “Lasik Girl”, in the All Jane Comedy Festival and the New York Funny Songs Fest, as well as shows all over the country. Her work has been featured on @midnight, in The Huffington Post, Paste Magazine, Mashable, Pajiba, The Mary Sue, Geek and Sundry, The Portland Mercury and more. She released her debut album RADIO SILENCE, produced by Larry Crane (She & Him, The Decemberists, Death Cab for Cutie, Elliott Smith) in 2016 on Doubleclicks Records. Her music has been called “hauntingly beautiful”, compared to Zooey Deschanel, Regina Spektor, and Amanda Palmer. Follow her on Twitter at lucia_fasano.
