The Lazy Universe swirls musical influences of psychedelic, country, stoner-rock, and a hint of Latin together with unusual lyrics about self-harmers, schizophrenic teens, single mothers of down-syndrome children and wild-west prostitutes.
Daily Decay is a back to basics Heavy-Powerpop Northwest based trio. Their songs take the Pop Rock formula and dial up the intensity with hard-hitting drums, driving bass lines, dynamic guitar, and melodic vocals aimed at getting you moving and singing along. With nods to 60’s Pop, Garage Rock, Proto Punk, combined with thick fuzzed out guitar tones, their songs are a refreshing reminder that hard rock can still be fun.
Dr. Something is the project of songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Alison Dennis, who has been recording and performing music in Portland for over a decade. She utilizes piano, synth, woodwinds and guitar to create engagingly melodic chamber pop that blurs the line between comedy and earnestness. Filling out the band’s sound are dynamic drummer Michael Wilding, intrepid bass guitarist Jacob Anderson and, on special occasions, the back-up singing, go-go dancing sensations Amy Baxter, Erika Garlock and Christie Welsh. Alison, Michael and Jacob also play in the psych rock band All I Feel Is Yes. RIYL: Nellie McKay, John Grant, Belle & Sebastian, The Zombies
