The Mighty Missoula: In a saturated world of instrumental post-rock bands, The Mighty Missoula are keeping things simple as a three-piece. Like their namesake, which triggered cataclysmic flooding of the Pacific Northwest, they produce lush and temperamental streams of soundtrack-esque nostalgia. In live performances, they aim to infuse the patience of Japan’s MONO and Scotland’s Mogwai with a dash of late-90s era Indie Rock.
We Are Parasols is a Portland based electronic-shoegaze band. d (vocals/bass) and j/wilkins (guitars/synthesizers/programming) have been writing, recording, and living together since 2012. During the recording of their debut full-length, Infrastructure (2016), minimalist drummer/programmer, alec eye, joined the group. With the release of their most recent, ambient EP, bite_your_tongue.ep, the band expanded once more, this time adding, bw on keyboards and piano. While deeply influenced by classic shoegaze and etherial bands like Curve and The Cocteau Twins, We Are Parasols add dark electronic elements and effects inspired by modern artists like Gazelle Twin and Fever Ray.
