a notion is the solo voice/guitar/loop pedal project of portland based singer-songwriter kevin hogue. folk/pop originals with classic folk/90’s covers. rhythms courtesy of the loop pedal, a tiny drum machine and hitting his guitar.
not only a vehicle for wordplay, incessant puns and paradox, the songs are an energetic mix of joyful hopelessness, paeans to pain and condemnation of the complicity that is our american birthright, with some ludicrous nostalgia thrown into the mix.
