Sammi Lanzetta has a knack for gut-wrenching, painful honesty with seemingly simple lyrics, belying the depth of narrative contained within. Her first two records tackle misogyny and anxiety head on, unrelenting in her vitriolic send up of the status quo — and it’s all set to some of the best guitar-driven, proper rock music to surface in recent memory. Her sophomore album, slated for release March 2023, delivers that same attitude wrapped in a gauzy pop sheen, letting her guard down and showing a more sensitive side without betraying her striking and unfuckwithable storytelling.
